React Job: Developer

SureHire is a leading Canadian provider of occupational testing services. Available at over 600 exclusive testing facilities nationally, SureHire’s full spectrum of occupational testing services provides employers with accurate and timely results to support informed decision-making at work, at home, and in the community. In this position, the Developer will be involved in developing and maintaining our applications, from testing to deploying, coding to prototyping. The successful candidate will be a team player with a positive attitude and able to work with minimal supervision. You will be joining a tight-knit, friendly, and professional team. You will apply your excellent people skills when assisting with employee requests. Hours of work will be between office hours of 8:00am – 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.

Job Overview:

• Participate in product and feature implementation
• Follow SureHire’s development methodologies and take part in team coding and meetings
• Create and work with Django templates with compliant HTML5/CSS3
• Model and implement intricate data structures using relational databases, primarily PostgreSQL
• Lead productive and collaborative implementation discussions with the Development Team Lead
• Distill and transpose high-level project requirements into user workflows, user stories, and other documentation
• Implement and maintain the use of third-party REST APIs
• Work with the development team lead to scope and estimate development needs for new projects with potentially limited requirements
• Help architect scalable solutions and performance-test applications to find and eliminate bottlenecks

Education:

• Not Mandatory but considered an asset: Bachelor of Computer Science (BSc) or equivalent

Experience:

• Min. 3+ years of professional experience in front and back-end software development
• Experience with distributed version control systems
• Min. 3+ year experience with building and maintaining REST APIs
• Experience with deploying/maintaining (Linux) servers
• Experience using Nginx + UWSGI

Required competencies/knowledge/skills/abilities:

• Intermediate/Advanced in test-driven development practices
• Intermediate/Advanced with Front-End Frameworks (jQuery, React.js, Node.js, HTML/CSS)
• Excellent interpersonal and communication (both verbal and written) skills
• Has an intermediate/advanced grasp of one of the following: Django, CodeIgniter or another MVC frameworks
• Extensive knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL and/or MySQL)
• Knowledge of Microsoft NAV/Business Central would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) would be considered an asset
