As a Director, you will be a hands-on leader guiding teams on customer-facing products using cutting-edge front-end frameworks, highly available microservices, and event-driven systems. You should have a passion for delivering outcomes, learning new technologies and the ability to knock down impediments to deliver great products. You will bring solid experience in emerging and traditional technologies such as: Design Systems, modern front-end libraries and framework, microfrontends, microservices, event sourcing, SQL and NoSQL databases and AWS/Cloud Infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a team of software engineers working on customer facing products developed using event-driven microservices, Java full-stack development, APIs and React-based micro frontends.
  • Distribute time between unblocking the team, vetting their designs, and coaching them to realize their full potential, while also contributing to building products.
  • Partner with other Engineering, Data and Architecture teams on establishing best-practices and architecture reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance to the engineering team in incorporating atomic design concepts, provide effective translation of UX design to front-end code artifacts, and adopt domain driven design principles in implementing microfrontends and microservices for product verticals.
  • Contribute to the Software Engineering groups by establishing tools, technologies, standards, and ways of working that expedite agile delivery.
  • Build and deliver on technology and product roadmap in partnership with product owners, and stakeholders; Skillfully prioritize tech-debt pay-down projects as well as strategic initiatives with a focus on cloud native approach, automation, and innovation.
  • Establish and outperform metrics on engineering quality, operational excellence and agility; Take ownership of agile operating model and adapt levers appropriately.

Required Skills & Experience:

Experience with:
  • Driving operational excellence and engineering best practices for distributed applications of moderate-to-high complexity.
  • Leading teams on modern front-end frameworks, microservices, events based real-time, reactive streaming frameworks or batch processing architectures and technologies.
  • Guiding architectural choices on appropriate use of polyglot persistence using SQL/NoSQL data stores (Mongo, Oracle, Postgres).
  • Creating modern applications using JavaScript/Typescript and React; GraphQL schema design and implementation; microservices using Java and associated open-source technologies, such as Spring Boot; event-driven applications using Kafka.
  • Utilizing Design Systems and micro-frontend libraries to create cohesive, yet composable web platforms.
  • Modern package management, build and test frameworks (e.g., NPM, Yarn, Webpack, Jest, Enzyme, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, Wraith).
  • Integrating with analytics platforms, measurement solutions, data visualization tools, and experience using these tools to provide meaningful insight.

Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of AWS infrastructure - EC2 instances, S3 storage, Route 53, CloudFront, CloudFormation and Networking (VPC, subnets, security groups) etc.
  • Familiarity with Kubernetes / EKS-based container orchestration.
  • Familiarity with Docker-based containerization of web components.
  • Exposure to Atlassian toolkits such as Bamboo, BitBucket, JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience in using NGINX / Apache web servers in a container environment.

Years of Experience:
  • 12+ years of software development experience building large-scale enterprise software.
  • 8+ years of experience in building, managing, and growing high-performance software engineering team.
  • 8+ years of experience in working with full-stack applications.
  • 4+ years of experience working with cloud architecture utilizing the infrastructure and platform cloud services (AWS).
